A Rare Connection

A Rare Connection

Is religion a necessity? How about Love? What would you do if you had to choose?

French, heiress Nicole Moreau takes her hard-working, American best friend, Andrew Leavitt, for granted. Then he puts his education at UCLA on hold to serve as a missionary in South Korea for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She can’t understand his devotion, can’t seem to be happy without him, and can’t stop herself from interrupting his mission. Intending to propose, she botches the question and leaves heartbroken.

Andrew is deeply in love with her but doesn’t react fast enough to prevent a tragedy.

Caught in the cross hairs of the private war between her French Intelligence agent mother and a deadly North Korean unit of kidnappers, Nicole becomes collateral damage.

Can her well-meaning grandmother give her a second chance to choose truth as well as love so she can heal from a #MeToo secret with the power to destroy her? Or will her mother’s enemies exact the final revenge?

***** Five Stars "A Rare Connection by S.V. Farnsworth is a sweet romance, which illustrates how love and faith can work together to heal in surprising ways. The suspense kept me turning the page to see what happened next, and I loved the insights into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints showing how a supportive church family can make one stronger."
**** Four Stars "I picked this book up because I liked the front cover, but it was the brief blurb on the back that hooked me: Is religion a necessity? How about love? What would you do if you had to choose? That’s the dilemma facing Nicole Moreau and Andrew Leavitt, main characters of A Rare Connection. Can Nicole, a skeptic and descendant of French royalty, find happiness with Andrew, a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Growing up together in Los Angeles as teenagers, they shared an undeniable romantic connection and attraction to each other, but their cultural differences and divergent circumstances threaten to keep them apart forever. Maybe Nicole should just forget about Andrew. That’s what she’d like to do, but the trouble is, she still loves him. With Andrew now back from his missionary assignment in South Korea and Nicole back in the United States after a sojourn overseas as well, the couple are given a second chance when Nicole’s grandmother rents a place near Moab, Utah, close to where Andrew grew up. Author Farnsworth does an excellent job of maintaining the romantic tension between the leading characters throughout the book. I normally read very little romance, which is probably the only reason I didn’t give this book five stars. However, I found myself wanting to keep turning the pages of this novel. I also enjoyed the vivid description of the scenery and natural wonders around Moab, an area of Utah I have never visited. I highly recommend this book, especially to anyone who, unlike me, is an avid reader of romance and to anyone with a special interest in the LDS Church."
