Critiques Make My Heart Pound by S.V. Farnsworth

A professional book reviewer requested an advance reader copy or ARC of Hard Start: Mars Intrigue. People like this can make or break a book launch. I took a chance and I’m glad I did!

You can guess what happened, the woman wrote great feedback that nearly gave me a heart attack.

Some of the feedback was negative, but most of the comments were positive.

At first, I wasn’t thrilled, I was panicking. What if the novel isn’t any good? What if people don’t like it? What if she’s totally right about the…

Well, of course, she was right about the…

It’s fortunate I still had two months before the book’s release on October 10th, 2021 to fix the issue she pointed out.

Why on Mars, um, Earth, should I be excited about receiving criticism, you ask?

Well, this brutal book blogger gave me a full page of feedback that neither love nor money can buy.

I have taken every line of the critique into consideration and revised the book.

Words cannot express how grateful I am that she pointed out something that I hadn’t thought of.

Therefore, thank you, Dear Book Review Blogger. You saved my bacon!

Writing prompts usually don’t move me, but this one did.

You can imagine my surprise when a photograph of an old VW van stirred my heart to write a few words. I submitted my work to the contest the prompt came from, but I didn’t win. Even so, I still have those words in my pocket.

Here it is…Helen Astern by S.V. Farnsworth. Comment if it touches you in any way that you’d like to talk about.

Helen Astern,
A little girl with her mother’s eyes.
Look out the back window of your rolling home.
Yellow van of stalled aspiration.
See the world.
Lives lived in passing.
No roots, but one.
Grandma’s hands, pulling in, pulling back.
Old strength to young growth.
Stretch and thrive before you drive.
Away.
